BDM/Sales Executive

Business Development, Sales and Account Management play fundamental roles within a travel organisation. Each role plays a different part in the sales process. The Business Development Manager analyses potential buisness, approaches and attempts to secure new business. Once the client is secured, the Account Manager maintains and ensures growth of revenue form the client together with handling any customer sevrice issues. Every travel company operates their sales department in different approaches with roles being defined as one fo the following:
Sales Support/Inside Sales is vital within the sales team. This office based position deals with sales phone enquires, constructs sales reports and produces competitor analysis for the sales team. You must be highly organised and have the abililty to multi-task.
Business Development Manager/Sales Executive is constantly on the hunt for new business opportunities. Often this will include completing ongoing competitor anaysis and generating leads for possible sales opportunities. Often this role is based working on the road due to promoting the company products. Day to day duties will include visiting retail travel agencies, completing product training, handling any customer service issues, maximising sales opportunities and attending trade events and famils. Often you will be presenting to key decision makers so you must be confident.
Account Manager or Sales Manager will identify opportunities to increase revenue from existing customers. This will include growing client relationships, through a mix of face to face and telephone meetings. The Sales Manager will negotiate annual contracts and ensure they fit with the client and business needs. This role requires you to be able to build and maintain relationships and be a strong negotiator. Generally these roles are based working on the road so you must be highly motivated. These roles are generally found within a wholesaler, tour operator, airline, hotel, corporate travel sectors.
